The history of jewelry firm is filled with many scams and diamond scams are no exception. Many population get ripped of their money by the frauds made by these crooked jewelers. It happens because many of us do not have the right knowledge about the diamond and finally get entrapped by these fraudulent jewelers who are all the time looking to trick the vulnerable ones.

There are many scams and tricks which you can avoid if you are planning to buy diamond jewelry. They are as follows:

o Carat weight scam: the total weight of the whole jewelry item is given on the price tag rather than the personel carat weight of the stone. The buyer is tricked to pay more whereas in the reality the stone weighs far less. One large stone is worth five or six small ones. Paying for more weight whereas the stone in reality weighing much lesser cost a heavy price to the buyer. Beware of the rounded fractions as well because jewelers are in the habit of rounding the sum to a great extent.

o Huge sales scam: never come in the trick of huge sales on diamond jewelry. You will be lured into paying more than the general price. Or the jewelry would be defective.

o Fluorescence scams: most of the jewelers trick you by saying that they have a very high class white blue diamond where as in reality these are diamonds of inferior quality. It means showing diamonds in moving lights that effect in natural light which comprise ultraviolet wavelengths. The diamond looks of whitish blue hue and the jeweler presents it as something very unique request for a sum of money that the stone does not deserve at all.

o Light scam: most of the jewelers keep the extra bulbs on over the diamond jewelry that emits a whitish glaze under that light. Inferior ability yellow diamonds look white and the buyer gets trapped into buying this one.

o Lowball scam: many jewelers pronounce that the diamond you have brought to them for their estimate is of very low quality. In this way, they administrate to get the real and worthy stone from you at a very low price and resale it at a far greater price. Never trust the judgment of one jeweler and get it appraised by two or three other jewelers.

Get your diamond appraised by some credible jeweler or gem laboratory before making the final decision of buying a diamond jewelry item. Try to avoid these scams and make sure that you are buying jewelry from a reputable and credible store or jeweler.
